Songwriting & Production Packages

Whether you’re a developing artist, a parent buying a gift, or a producer looking for strong toplines and writing support, I’d love to help. Have a look at the packages and services below – and if you’re after something slightly different, just enquire.

Demo in a Day – £250

A full-day, one-to-one session at my studio in Halifax, designed for developing artists and serious hobbyists – or as a powerful gift for someone who’s always wanted to record their own song.

Perfect for:

  • Singers with a rough song idea, voice note or chord progression

  • Artists who want a proper demo instead of another phone recording

  • Parents/partners looking for a unique, experience-based gift

How it works:

You arrive with a rough idea – a melody, lyrics, chords or even just a strong concept – and across the day we:

  • Shape the song (structure, key, tempo, vibe)

  • Build a simple but effective production/arrangement

  • Record lead vocals (and key harmonies/doubles as time allows)

  • Do a focused rough mix so you leave with something that feels exciting, not unfinished

You’ll leave with:

  • 1 × finished demo mix of your song (WAV + MP3)

  • A version you can share with friends/family or use as a strong starting point for future production

Sessions usually run as a single full day (around 7–8 hours including breaks). This package is for one song; if you’d like to work on more than one idea, I’ll recommend a custom plan.

Weekend Production Experience – from £480 (2 days)

For artists who want to go deeper – more layers, more detail, more time on vocals and mix. This is a two-day package designed to take a song from idea to a more polished, near-release demo.

Perfect for:

  • Artists with a song they really believe in and want to invest in

  • Gifts for someone serious about their music

  • Anyone who wants more time to develop the sound and performance

Typical structure:

Day 1 – Writing & Foundation Production

  • Song/arrangement decisions and reference listening

  • Build a solid production bed (drums/programming, bass, guitars/keys etc.)

  • Record main lead vocal takes

Day 2 – Layers, Detail & Mix Focus

  • Harmonies, doubles and extra textures

  • Production tweaks and ear-candy

  • Focused mix work to bring everything together

You’ll leave with:

  • A more detailed, polished demo mix (WAV + MP3) suitable for pitching, planning releases or sharing with your audience

  • Stems or alternate versions can be provided on request (may incur a small extra fee depending on scope)

Weekend Production sessions are usually split over two days (often two Saturdays) so we can keep ears fresh and make better decisions. Pricing starts from £480 for one song; more complex projects will be quoted individually.

Songwriting, Toplining & Ghostwriting (Work-for-Hire)

Alongside in-person sessions, I also take on project-based writing work, including toplines and full song creation where you or your artist retain all rights.

Examples of what I can do:

  • Topline writing – melody and lyrics over your existing instrumental/beat

  • Lyric writing / co-writing – tightening up or rewriting lyrics for stronger impact

  • Full song creation – music + melody + lyrics, from scratch or from your brief

  • Demo vocals – I can record guide/lead vocals for producers/songwriters who need a strong demo performance

  • Light production & arrangement – building or improving a track so the song hits harder

Because every project is a bit different, I keep this flexible, but as a guide:

  • Topline (melody + lyrics) over your track – from £220 per song

    • Work-for-hire: you keep 100% of master and publishing rights, no royalty splits.

  • Full custom song (music + melody + lyrics) – typically £400–£550 per song

    • Final price depends on your brief, number of revisions and production requirements.

  • Session vocals / vocal production add-on – from £130 per song when combined with the above.

  • Writing/production day rate – £220 per day / £130 per half-day

    • For more open-ended work (multiple ideas, development sessions, tweaks on existing material, etc.).

If you’re not sure which category your project fits into, just tell me what you’re working on and what you need. I’ll come back with a clear suggestion, a price, and whether it’s best handled as a fixed-fee, a day rate, or one of the packages above.

Demo in a Day & Weekend Production Experience FAQs

  • No. For Demo in a Day and the Weekend Production Experience, you don’t need a perfectly finished song. A rough idea, some lyrics, chords, a voice note or even a strong concept is enough. The session includes shaping the song together so we can build something that feels authentic to you.

  • Yes. As long as you’re willing to give it a go and you’re excited about the idea of recording, we can make it work. I’ll guide you through the process, help with structure and performance, and keep things relaxed. If I think a different package or a different approach would suit you better, I’ll say so.

  • All sessions currently take place at my studio in Halifax, West Yorkshire. The exact address and directions are shared once we’ve confirmed your booking.

  • For younger artists, a parent or guardian is absolutely welcome. For adults, one guest is usually fine, as long as they’re there to support rather than distract. If you’d like to bring someone, just mention it when you enquire so we can plan around it.

  • The Demo in a Day package is designed to give you a strong, exciting demo – something you can share, learn from and build on. The Weekend Production Experience gets you closer to a near-release demo, with more detail and mix time. If you’re specifically aiming for something ready to go straight to distribution, let me know in your enquiry and I’ll advise what’s realistic and whether any extra work would be needed. Projects vary in complexity and how much they require to reach that release-ready point!

  • For most projects, you’ll get a stereo mix (WAV and MP3). If you’d like stems or project files for future mixing/remixing, I can provide those too – just mention it up front, as it can add a bit of extra time and may incur a small additional fee depending on the project.

  • Once we’ve agreed on a package and a date, I’ll ask for a deposit to secure the booking, with the remaining balance due on or just before the session. If you’re buying a gift, we can arrange this in advance and provide a simple confirmation or voucher-style email for you to give to the recipient.

  • Life happens. If you need to move your session, just let me know as soon as you can. I’ll always try to reschedule where possible, but short-notice changes may mean losing the deposit if I can’t fill the slot.
